Duncan Wickel
![]()
Uilleann piper and fiddler Duncan Wickel began playing classical music at age 4. He continues to hone that skill and has also developed a keen talent for traditional Irish music. Duncan is mostly self-taught in Irish music; influenced by pipers such as Kieran O'Hare and Mick O'Brian, and a fiddle style highly reflective of the renowned Liz Carroll. A homeschooler at age 16, Duncan spends much time performing and studying, maintaining a professional level now as a member of the Asheville Symphony, performing regularly in numerous venues in western North Carolina and elsewhere, performing and recording with musicians such as John Doyle.
